Recognizing the need to support trained lymphedema therapists in reviewing the essential skills of lymphedema management, the Academy of Lymphatic Studies has prepared this visual aid to guide lymphedema therapists through the essential steps in the treatment of upper extremity lymphedema. This DVD serves to reinforce the correct use of manual lymph drainage (MLD) techniques and the essential lymphatic anastomoses and pathways used in the treatment of lymphedema affecting the upper extremity.

Goals and treatment approaches vary depending on the individual condition. In some cases the main focus may be on the treatment of the trunkal quadrant, in other cases treatment of the affected extremity, either in portions or in its entirety may be the primary treatment goal. This video demonstration follows the fundamental principles for the treatment of trunkal and extremity lymphedema.

WARNING: Improper application of Manual Lymph Drainage and Complete Decongestive Therapy can be harmful to the patient. The purpose of this demonstration is to review the appropriate treatment techniques for lymphedema affecting the upper extremities for trained lymphedema therapists only. These videos are not intended to teach sequences for the treatment of lymphedema to untrained individuals.
